Cousins

Growing up I spent a lot of time with my cousin Ricki. If she wasn't at my house all weekend, I was at hers. We knew everything about each other and could always count on each other. We were goofy and always had fun. When I think of Ricki, I smile.

It makes me feel so good to see our kids now hanging out together. Sometimes they say or do something and it reminds me so much of us at that age. Everything makes them laugh.

I really hope they have the same type of relationship we had. With every prank call, or funky song, or silly game they play, it brings back so many memories. And I love it!

Easter

We spent Easter at my parents house yesterday and the kids had so much fun! I brought my potato salad and Shelby made the green salad to join the hot dogs and hamburgers my parents had. The kids got to cook their own hot dogs over a fire, we had an egg hunt, and we got to visit with my grandma.

I know I am missing a couple of kids and a husband in there,  I promise they were there, hopefully I can steal a few pictures of them soon!

Happy Birthday Haylee!!!!

Today my daughter is 11! We went to a Mexican restaurant today for lunch and she had to wear a giant sombrero while we all sang happy birthday to her.

It is weird to think of her as 11. Soon she'll be a teenager and it feels like its happening in a matter of minutes instead of years. When she was little I used to say, who are you? She'd reply, Haylee Sue, how do you do?
She is such a giggler. Everything makes her smile and everything makes her cry. She is very tender hearted. The world is such a better place to have her in it, and we are so blessed to have her in our family.

Yee-Haw

Here's Colby helping me get the boys settled down.

They didn't exactly fall right to sleep........but it's ok. I'd rather them playing and smiling verses screaming and fighting any day.

Friday!

Woohoo! Its Friday and my kids will be out of school for the next week. Spring break will give them a taste of summer vacation, so I am sure everyone will be very hyper.....oh goodie.

I have done 17 loads of laundry so far this week. Thank god its the year 2012 and not 1812. I couldn't imagine how women did everyday life back then. Whenever I think about my laundry mountain I remind myself how nice technology is and how much rougher it could be. Nothing like beating your clothes on a rock or using a scrub board to keep ya humble. I love to look at pictures of people from 100 years ago. How strong they were. How those who came before them survived. It's truly amazing, and I am so thankful for them. When I think of my mom, my grandma, their grandmas and so on....I am in awe.

Broken arm!

Well today I got a call from my kids school. Usually when they call I wince as I wait to hear all about Caden's latest adventures, but today it was about Haylee. She got hurt during the principals party while jumping in the bounce house. When I got there they had her wrist wrapped and on ice. I took her to the doctors for an x-ray just to be on the safe side, and sure enough, it is broken!

She had never broken anything, so she was very shook up about it. But I managed to get her to smile through the pain.

She couldn't believe I would take pictures of her, lol.

We go back in a few days after the swelling has gone down to get the cast on.

Not a very fun day for Hay!

1st time

Yesterday was Troy's first time sitting in the seat part of the grocery cart. Sam's club has 2 seats in their carts, so both Trav and Troy got to sit side by side. Troy loved it!

He was grabbing everything in sight and constantly moving his head all directions. It was so fun to watch him see the world get so much bigger.

Shelby has been talking about pineapples a lot lately, so Chason has been asking for one. Guess what Sam's club had?

He was so excited! Of course I had to look up how to cut one, lol.

I have always bought canned pineapple, so it was a first for both of us. All the kids ate it and Shelby made sure to save some for Scott. It was a nice treat!

That time of the month?

So Shelby is gonna kill me for posting this but I just had to!

Today we're in the kitchen and Haylee is asking me questions from the living room. She has been asking questions about growing up lately, and I always tell my kids the answers to what they are curious about. Even if it's uncomfortable. So anyway, she says......Mom? Ummm how old were you......um when....um how old were you when.....(staring at Shelby and quickly switching gears) had your first baby?

I was 19 hun.

She's still staring at Shelby who is fixing herself a drink not really paying attention to what Haylee is saying. That's when Haylee realizes Shelby's not listening, so she just blurts out......

How old were you when you started your first period?

I was 12. Usually you start when your mother did.

So now her stare at Shelby turns into a very comical look as she's trying her best not to bust out laughing. That's when I look up from washing dishes and see her looking at her 12 year old sister.

And that's when Shelby gets it.

MOM!!! OMG Don't tell her that!

So now we are all 3 laughing and it's something I will always (sorry Shelby) remember.....

Disney on Ice

We went to Disney on Ice last Sunday. We haven't gone for a really long time so the kids were all really really excited. Shelby the baby and myself had been in Nevada visiting my sister and her kids for the weekend, and got up really early to drive to Salt Lake City in order to make it in time for the show. The kids were super excited to see us. I have never done anything like that before, so being away from them was rough.

The show started at 1:30, and at 1:35 we were in our seats.

We all had tons of fun. On the way home we stopped and had dinner so it was a special day for our family.

I hope this post works and y'all can see it.

Exchange day

Pay day is exchange day. It just goes from my hand to others hands. I get to spend the day in the car driving from one bill to another bill. Luckily my dad tagged along so I wouldn't have to drag 3 little kids in with me and attempt to keep them at my side while I balanced the baby on my hip and pay up to everyone. I have done this many times before so it was really nice to have some help.

Tomorrow is grocery shopping day.

Awesome.

Car Wash

I pull into the car wash and get in line. There's only 1 car ahead of me so I know the wait won't be long. The second the car stops I hear whining coming from the back seat. I turn around and look at Travis. This is what I see.

He's been here before. He remembers. Oye.

So his brother helps out.

Now it's my turn to enter.

Its not that bad right?

Well..............

Ok maybe to a 2 year old it could resemble death engulfing you....

Chason thought it was funny.....

But then he felt bad for Travis and decided to help out.

I guess next time I will go when he's sleeping...I hope he don't have nightmares........oye

Doctor Appointments

Chason and Troy finally had their doctor appointment. After re scheduling twice because they were sick, I was glad to get it over with. I brought the 4 youngest with me, and Scott had just got back from New Mexico so he came along as well. It did him a lot of good to see what its like for me whenever I go out anywhere with the little boys. They were running all around the room, pulling books away from each other, 1 screaming they had to go potty.....pretty much a normal day for me. Lets just say I got a lot of I love yous and thank yous from Scott that day, lol.

Troy went first and was weighed and measured from head to toe. He is in the 90% of his height, and 50% of his weight but its the 18 month check up that will give us a clue of what he'll be like as a adult. They tag teamed him on his shots, and my poor little baby didn't like it one bit.

Chason is all boy and kept making Dr. Fennel crack up with every few minutes. He is very healthy and all caught up on his immunizations now. He is such a strong kid. They gave him his shots and he looked down and said ow.

That's it. No tears at all.

Not really a fun day, but glad to be done with it.

Awwww

I sent Colby upstairs to check on the boys. I wanted to know if they had finished cleaning their room and if they were in bed yet. After a half an hour and no Colby I went to check on them myself.

This is what I saw-

Now how cute is that?

Treasure Map

Chason was finally feeling better today! Yay! He's been sick for a full week and it was so nice to see him running around getting in trouble lol. He watched Jake and the Never land Pirates and asked if he could have a treasure map. So, we made one.

He was so excited!

It was great so see him happy and smiling again.

The baby is just about over the bug, but now Travis has a fever, so I guess it's round 3!

hope this works........

I haven't been able to post for a few days. Everytime I would try all it would let me type is the title.

The boys are passing around the sickie bugs, Shelby tried to make koolaid without any sugar, Colby broke up with his girlfriend (whom we love but I gotta stay out of it) and 1 of Haylees best friends moved away.

Also, we bought a new car.

Thats the quick version of the past few days...............

Travis's 1st haircut

I always put off the first haircut. They just instantly look big. I knew it was time and finally took Travy to get his hair cut.

He was getting major bed head in the mornings and it was knotting up. So I held him on my lap and told the girl to get out her clippers. No way was I gonna make her attempt using scissors on a crying wiggling 2 year old. At first he was not happy.

But soon he settled down and rested his head on my chest. I promised him a balloon when he was all done, so that really helped. When she finished with him I turned him around and took a good look at him. Then it was me who was crying. My baby didn't look like a baby anymore.

I saved a lock of his hair for his baby box.

Yet another bitter-sweet day for me.

Colby

Colby had his very first job interview today. He applied for a landscaping job at our local amusement park. He was so nervous! He wanted to make sure he didn't say or do anything wrong. He made sure he didn't fidget, and he didn't say umm umm when asked questions, lol. Personally, I think he did great and they'd be stupid not to hire him, but I am a little biased.

We have to wait to hear if they want to hire him or not, but hopefully they will be quick about it.

I can't believe how much older he is getting. He is turning into a man right before my eyes. Some days I could kill him, but most days he makes me more proud then I ever could of imagined.

Valentines Day

This is what I woke up to

My hubby loves me..........

I took the boys to preschool today and they made the cutest valentine boxes.

Delivery trucks, lol. They were so excited to show me when I picked them up. Cavin was mad because a girl dared to give him a princess valentine with a princess pencil in it, lol. He kept saying I not a girl!!

I went to my moms after school to pick up a blanket she made for Shelby. It turned out so nice! She worked really hard on it, and it shows. We also got some valentines for the kids from grandma T. She always thinks of them, it great!

When we got home the girls went down to their room and found their valentine presents from me. No matter the age every girl deserves something special on Valentines day.

It doesn't have to be anything big, just something to know they are special.

And let me just say.....my girls are pretty special.

Fun Friday Night

I wasn't able to post yesterday about Friday night, so hear it goes....

I had a very hard day on Friday and needed some down time desperately, so after I had all the little kids in bed I decided to sneak out to a late movie. I told Scott to text me if anyone woke up, and brought Colby and Shelby along with me. This is something I haven't been able to do since I had Troy, but he's finally getting old enough that he's sleeping most of the night, so Colb and Shelb were excited to be able to go out with me again.

We saw "The Grey" and had tons of fun. Its a movie about a plane crash and the survivors trying to outwit wolves who are hunting them. If you hate movies that end in the middle of a scene, don't go see it, lol.

On the way home we noticed it was almost midnight, and since Shelby and I are Twilight fans, we knew Breaking Dawn was about to be released on DVD. So off to Walmart we went. There was a huge line, but thankfully it moved very quickly.

We got our copy

And had lots of fun laughing and being silly in Walmart with all the Twilight fanatics. Colby took the pictures I think because he didn't want proof I dragged him along with us, lol.

By 1:20 a.m., I was in bed. At 5:00 a.m., Troy decided to wake up so I fixed him his bottle and fed him while still half asleep. He went right back to sleep when he was finished and so did I, lol. At 7:00 a.m. Travis started banging on the bedroom door and I knew it was time to start my day.

The night was worth it. I enjoyed hanging out with my oldest kids, and I figure I'll sleep when I'm dead.
